Healthcare spending is on an unsustainable trajectory, especially in the United States.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently projected that healthcare spending will rise 5.5 percent annually from 2017 to 2026. Additionally, spending is expecting to make up 19.7 percent of the U.S. economy by 2026, up from 17.9 percent in 2016.
According to a recent Journal of the American Medical Association study, the United States spends nearly twice as much on healthcare as any other high-income country in the world. What’s more, imaging utilization makes up a major part of this spend.
Reducing imaging spend means transforming from the old institution-based model, where imaging storage and workflows were developed for ease of use by an organization, into a more patient-centric approach. This method creates value not only for the patient, but also the hospital, the radiology practice and the radiologist.
How is it done?
With the abundance of EMRs and PACS available today, choosing the latest imaging workflow technology helps radiologists reduce utilization and navigate across multiple disparate hospital systems to gather patient information. These technologies combine all unrelated systems into a single, unified platform for the radiologist. Leading imaging workflow solutions, through the use of a virtual patient archive, bring patients’ images to the subspecialized radiologist at the right time in order to assist imaging specialists to do more with fewer restrictions and interruptions.
Our solution: RadAssist
LucidHealth understands the challenges facing private radiology practices today. That’s why we developed RadAssist, our proprietary imaging workflow solution. RadAssist creates a portable, virtual-imaging archive that can be instantly accessed by an individual’s entire medical team — regardless of location. It prevents over-utilization through the accessibility of prior studies from all healthcare systems, which eliminates additional radiation exposure while also reducing patient costs.
In addition, RadAssist supports radiologists by combining disparate dictation systems into one workflow and eliminates the need for multiple logins to different systems. With data elements from RIS, HIS, dictation systems, EMR, scheduling systems, multiple PACS and modalities, a rich database within RadAssist delivers on-demand, relevant patient information as needed.
Our technology provides a flexible, customizable workflow and offers automated assistance to local radiologists by revealing only the oldest or most critical exams, allowing providers to focus on each patient without falling behind.
RadAssist has managed over 10 million exams over the past decade, enabling us to create a virtual patient archive across multiple disparate health systems, including 29 hospitals and 34 outpatient and urgent care facilities.
